Southern Maine Agency on Aging
The Southern Maine Agency on Aging's mission is to assure that older people living in Southern Maine, especially those who are frail, living along, or have low incomes, receive the support necessary to maintain their independence in the community. SMAA has been meeting the needs of seniors and their families for personal assistance through information, guidance, education, and social, financial, and home care programs and services in York and Cumberland Counties. United Way of Eastern Maine
The Bangor area including Washington, Hancock, Waldo, Penobscot, and Piscataquis counties are served by The United Way of Eastern Maine and it's 74 Programs. These Programs focus on positive community impact utilizing a three-pronged approach: Meeting Basic Needs & Promoting Self-Sufficiency, Strengthening Children And Families, and Supporting Seniors. These impact areas receive funding through United Way's Community Fund. From this fund, support is allocated to the 74 Programs offered by 45 Partner Agencies. Read more....
